Launch: Poppy & Rufus Stylish Dog Range

Poppy--Rufus-lead.jpg

I’ve been dying to tell you about Poppy & Rufus ever since I met the brand's founders Sue and Louise at last year’s Discover Dogs but I’ve had to sit tight until such time that their beautifully British dog products were available for your to paw over online. Poppyandrufus.co.uk is now open for business and I strongly recommend you pay them a visit.

First things first let’s talk dogs! Poppy is a working Cocker Spaniel Poppy and Rufus is a Jack Russell, Yorkie and Shi-tzu mix. Their namesake brand was born out of their owners’ (Sue & Louise) frustration in being able to find a functional and stylish dog bed that they didn’t find dull, predictable or kitsch. One thing led to another and their launch collection includes an extensive range of items for you and the dog for use at home and on the go …

Thank-Fifi-Lead-Image.jpg

Wellbeing: 7 Ways to Make Dealing With Your Doggy’s Business Less Unpleasant

Dog-on-toilet.jpg

Let’s be frank, cleaning up dog poo is an unpleasant by-product of being a pet parent but it’s a daily part of dog ownership nonetheless.

As I’m yet to win the lottery, I’m unable to employ the services of a professional poop-scoop company (yes they exist) to clear up Lord Basil’s mess but I can find ways to make dealing with it more bearable. Based on personal experiences and with a little thought, here’s seven ways for more bearable poo-management at home and on the go …

Walking Style: 5 Winter Looks To Steal

Dog-Walking-Style-Anne-Hathaway.jpg

After working from home for several months, style standards have slipped and my inner tomboy has taken hold. While this approach may result in comfortable and warm dog-walking attire, Basil is probably feeling none too proud and I’ve got his stylish reputation to withhold.

Inspired by the ‘teachings’ of my wise friend and editor of fashion and style inspiration blog The Occasional Fashionista and in a bid to be more put together 2014, I shall be look to other fabulous dog-owning beings for inspiration starting with these five celebrities and fashion bloggers …

Nine to Fido: 10 Careers Working With Dogs

Stylish-dog-walker.jpg

Come tomorrow morning there will be little escape from the fact that the Christmas holidays are officially O.V.E.R!

This time last year I was balking at the prospect of returning to work. I’d fallen out of love with my job and ultimately my career, was desperate for change and longed to spend more time on Barkarama and with Basil. Fast forward to the second half of the year, I finally made the leap, got busy creating Barkarama 2.0, enjoyed more hours with B-Boy and signed up as an Independent Stylist for jewellery brand Stella & Dot. Money has been tight but I don’t regret my decision for a second and thankfully I have a very supportive boyfriend. Enjoyment aside, it’s been a great opportunity to re-evaluate my professional path and give me the head-space I so needed.

Perhaps, like me, the Christmas break has left you questioning your current career too? Maybe it’s always been your dream to work with dogs? It’s never too late to make a change so here are ten careers working with dogs to help inspire you to switch from the Nine to Five to the Nine to Fido …
