-rama, is a noun suffix meaning: "sight, view, spectacular display or instance of". Add that to the end of ‘Bark’ and you get the spectacular display of the buys and doggie do’s on our radar this month.
WEAR: the Resort Bandana by The Rover Boutique for an injection of summer heat into your dog’s look because let’s be honest it’s been a wash out so far. Worn spectacularly by Basil’s new bud Ari of @HoneyIDressedThePug, snap up yours pronto for £18 from bob+BEAR. For more hound-wear recommendations, head over to our petwear and accessories channel for Basil’s fashion notes and shoots.
PLAY FOR 'GOOD': put down your mobile device and phone and take the #PlayMore Pledge in aid of the RSPCA, by spending an extra 15 minutes a day playing with your pet. For every pledge taken, MORE TH>N will give £1 to RSPCA so grab their fave toy, getting playing, catch it on camera and then head to Morethan.com to upload a picture of you and your dog to create your pledge. Playing with dog has never been so good.
EAT: due to Basil’s sensitive tummy being loyal to one or two brands we don’t tend to write about dog food BUT when we saw our little buddy @Abeastnamedrufus licking his lips at a pile of chic and inviting boxes, we caved in. Say hello to WONDERBOO - a nutritionally-sound range of dog meals containing 100% natural ingredients with no artificial additives, which is available to your pup on subscription and home delivery. With air-dried Ox and Cod recipes, including grain-free options for delicate tummies, it is no surprise Rufus is licking his lips with delight. Tuck in at Wonderboo.co.uk
DOGGY DWELLINGS: catching our eye in the home department is this retro-influenced rattan basket from our fave luxury dog bed purveyor Charley Chau. Shown dressed with a lightly coloured mattress, it looks like the perfect spot for your dog to cool off on balmy days. Prices start at £115 for basket only option at Charleychau.com - sadly the gorgeous Iggys are not included with purchase.
FOR HUMANS: giving up my Marc by Marc Jacobs Boston Terrier Phone Case due to an upgrade, was a seriously low phone blow. But thanks to my no 1 pizza-scoffin’, bitch-lovin’, thug-life Pugster and his Doug Silicone iPhone case (shown top), I’m ready to make peace with my phone. Dial D.O.U.G. and speak PUG at Dougthepug.gomerch.com
A TRIO OF MUST-DOGGIE-DO's
With so many places to go and doggies to see, I had a hard time picking what to share so here's our must-do hat trick:
- Dine @ Daphne’s – one of London’s most fabulous dining institutions has collaborated with one of Barkarama’s favourite accessories designers Lulu Guinness to welcome hounds and their humans for a dog-friendly lunch in their conservatory. Make a doggy date with Daphne’s in South Kensington at Daphnes-restaurant.co.uk
- More Dogs By Sally Muir – walk off your Daphne’s lunch with a stroll over to Anthropologie on King’s Road to check out a dog-lovers dream exhibition with drawing by artist Sally Muir. Dogs are welcome at this one too. The exhibition is open from 7th July to 4th September Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm, Sunday 12 to 6pm at Anthropologie, 131 - 141 Kings Road, London, SW3 4PW. A taster of her work is below
- The Kennel Club’s Dog Photographer of the Year Exhibition – see the winners of this year’s competition, including Tom Lowe’s stunning submission shown below, at The Kennel Club’s Art Gallery at their HQ in London’s Mayfair. Open from now until 12th September, this is a human-only affair and an appointment is necessary. Book your place on 0207 518 1064 or via Thekennelclub.org.uk/our-resources/the-art-gallery
Enjoy my friends!
