Pet Valentine Inspiration, Must Do Doggy Do’s, Collars in This Year’s Hottest Hue, Gucci’s Year of The Dog and More | What’s on Our Radar So Far in 2018

2018 might be Year of The Dog but for me it's also the year of my wedding so how many Barkarama pup-dates I’ll manage this year is TBC, as planning and working hard to pay for it is not without its challenges. That said dogs are always on my radar and Basil shall not be taking a sabbatical from his chief reviewer/roving repawter duties, so here’s what's blowing our fur up so far, this year.

This weekend’s Doggy Do – Fetch & Follow’s ‘Canine Cupid’ Market for Dogs and Dog Lovers: hot on the heels of their ridiculously good festive market, this East London event is back. There’s a wealth of cool wearable and edible shopping choices, our mate Rachel Oates will be snapping her camera in a pop up Kissing Booth for a sweet keepsake and the market mezzanine will be styled into cosy snug for under-heater cuddles with drinks, eats and Puppucinos from residents Terrone & Co Coffee. 11 to 4pm, Sunday 11 February, Netil Market, 13-23 Westgate Street, London, E8 3EL. For more information visit Facebook.com/FetchandFollow

Be inspired – our Valentine’s Gift Edit for Town & Country: if you can’t make the market, we’ve rounded up 10 gorgeous gifts like the heart shaped doggy back pack shown up top, and experiences to make Valentine’s and Love Your Pet Day extra special this year. Go check out the edit at Townandcountrymag.co.uk/animals

Wear – The Ultra Violet Colour Trend: Pantone announced that this shade of purple is the colour of 2018. Personally, I’m not a fan of purple but I will make an exception for Broughton & Co’s Purple & Lilac Glitter Ombre Leather Dog Collar. I’ve previously spotted our pocket rocket buddie Dolly Pawton in another shade of this style, and while that sassy gal always dazzles, the collar definitely gave her some extra sparkle. Priced from £55 and up, get on board with the hottest hue at Lovebroughtonandco.com. Got a cat too? Then be sure to check out the ‘Cheshire’ collar at Cheshireandwain.com, as it's ultra violet for feline fashionista.

Eat – Neoh & Nobo Peanut Butter for Dogs: dogs love peanut butter – fact! But regular human jar fulls are too sugary and some even contain xylitol, which can be fatal to dogs. This blend has been created especially for our four-legged pals, with only three ingredients; organic peanuts, organic coconut oil and cinnamon. Serve straight from the spoon, smear over a biscuit or use for home-baked doggo treats. Made in small batches to order, the shelf life is shorter than human PB so check the best before date when it arrives. Basil is a big fan! Priced £3.49 a jar > Neohandnobo.com

Wash - Bondi Wash Dog Wash: we were gifted some of this Australia-hailing dog shampoo to try, as well as some of their human samples for home and person (floor wash and hand wash – both lovely). Bondi Wash is all about blending the power and fragrance of Australian botanicals with a mix of essential oils and natural ingredients. All their products are 99-100% plant based so it's delicate for you, your dog, your home and the environment. The Dog Wash contains Lemongrass scent and Paperbark – a good anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and insect repellent - as well as helping with calming and relaxing. Basil did his standard posh-wash zoomies so I can’t vouch for that. Ha! My boy cleaned up a treat smelling delicious, looking shiny and feeling soft. A heads up – it doesn’t lather up as much as other products I have used but that’s because of the natural formulation and the lack of foam-making chemicals. I’d definitely recommend Bondi Wash and they have other items for your dog’s furcare too. Bondi Dog Wash is priced from £10, Bondiwash.eu

For Humans – Gucci’s Year of The Dog Collection: my personal match made in heaven – Gucci gear with Boston Terriers. To celebrate the forthcoming Chinese New Year that’s dedicated to our favourite breed of animal, the fashion house has launched a capsule collection of apparel and accessories inspired by Bosco and Orso, the Boston Terrier of the brand’s Creative Director Alessandra Michele. From pin patches, Boston emblazoned backpacks to their iconic sneakers with a doggo twist, this is a designer fashion/dog lovers dream. Pray for good fortune as the cheapest item in the collection is £195 for a patch. Get yo’self to Gucci.com and celebrate in CNY with some Gucci doggo-style.
