New Buy: Sniffy’s Natural Dog Treats

Sniffys-Dog-Treats.jpg

A wave of doggy excitement swept through our house this morning as Basil’s got his chops around some tasty treats from brand, spanking new, all natural, dog treat company Sniffy’s. We caught wind (pardon the pun) of their Bum Sniffingly Good™ Bites last week in a chance encounter with their business lead – Nacho, an ex-rescue dog and his owner Leean at the Dogs Trust Honours Awards.

Whilst Basil and Nacho did the bum-sniffing thing Leean told me how Sniffy’s was inspired by little Nacho (pictured above) who came into her life three year’s ago via the Mayhew Animal Home where he was being cared for after being dumped along with his siblings in a bin bag. Nacho’s had quite the appetite for a little guy but this saw him pile on the puppy pounds. Leann thought she was feeding him the right things but hadn’t realised his treats were full of fat. In a bid to keep down the canine calories, Leann took to the kitchen to make her own treats for Nacho, which she went on to share with her fellow dog walkers. Proving a big hit with the Hampstead Heath hounds, Leean and hubbie Sam were inspired to launch Sniffy’s.

Available in three flavours – Apple & Ginger, Carrot & Polenta and Pea & Mint, the Bum Sniffingly Good™ Bites are the first installment from the new brand. With the health and wellbeing of your dog front of mind, Sniffy’s treats are handmade with fresh ingredients, contain no hidden nasties such as artifical colours, flavours or preservatives, are gluten free, hypoallergenic, low in salt and contain less than 5% fat making them great for the fuller figure fido. Where possible, the ingredients are also locally sourced.

The verdict: cute and fun packaging arriving encased in monochrome paw print tissue paper. Sniffy’s are not your straight down the hatch kind of treat, they require a little bit of chomping to complete, which is great for rationing greedy guts pups. Basil has only sampled the Apple & Ginger flavour so far, which smelt absolutely delicious (yes we were tempted) and they passed his ‘run off and hide with my treat’ test meaning they’ve got his paws up. We’re also looking forward to seeing how the tummy-settling ginger aids his flatulence issues!

Sniffy’s Bum Sniffingly Good™ Bites are priced at £2.50 for a 70gram pack. Fetch yours now at Lovesniffys.com.
